PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency

CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Hospital PGY2 Emergency Medicine Residency

The PGY2 Residency at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System is a one-year, post-doctoral training program designed to enhance and strengthen the resident’s clinical skills and knowledge of the practice of pharmacy. This is accomplished using the principles of the Residency Learning System (RLS) framework.

The resident gains practice experience in direct patient care by working independently under the direction of his/her preceptor and participating in team-based interdisciplinary care in various areas of the hospital. The resident also works with a research mentor to develop a project to be presented at a regional or national pharmacy conference. While learning experiences are tailored to meet the needs of the resident based on personal interest and learning style, a high priority is placed on teaching principles of evidence-based care. Patient safety, pharmacoeconomics, and quality metrics are emphasized throughout the program as well.

Residents are given the opportunity to attend the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Annual Meeting, or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists Mid-Year Clinical Meeting, as well as the Annual Alcalde Southwest Leadership Conference.
